experiment with substance textures




maybe i should just use substance...
since it also has normal+disp maps..
the highest res is 2k tho, i will have to duplicate them over and over...
(same goes for the other one too, so i guess this is better)

terrain normal+disp map





looks okay when far away, but if i zoom in it looks crappy and low-res...
(they're 4K btw..oh and UV's kinda weird too..)
idk, i guess i'll make them smaller and duplicate them for close-up shots.
i will need some matte painting as well

i have the storyboards (didn't scan them yet for the blog)..
don't wanna rush this one, so I'm taking it slow.

still working on uv mapping the ship.
also there's a change of plan: I'm gonna start on animation soon so I can
work on all the textures later (after all the environment's done)

previs, animation blocking, and all models + UV's should be done
by the end of the semester...
then I'll start texturing+lighting+test rendering.

quite satisfied with this version, with few exceptions.

alien rig is done as well, just need to add teeth+eyeballs so it's 100% ready to animate.
ship will be done by tmr or the day after.
really need to start on texturing the alien
